Meet the Designer & Creator
My passion for jewelry-making and design began in high school. It primarily started with macrame accessories - bracelets, necklaces, hair wraps, belts, you name it. After high school, I graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Nutrition. Although I try to practice an active, healthy lifestyle, I was not quite sure I wanted to pursue nutrition as a career. Not really knowing what I wanted to do and caught up in some hard times personally, I joined a friend on what was meant to be a three to four month adventure to Maui. That turned into two and a half years and some of the best times of my life. I spent a lot of time surfing, munching on fresh mangoes and avocados, enjoying the simplicity of island life, and reconnecting with myself. I enrolled in a metals course at the Hui - the local art school. I was instantly hooked and amazed at the endless possibilities of this craft. I went on to take some other courses such as silver art clay, chain-making, granulation, and stone setting. I don’t live on Maui anymore, but I create based on my adventures and beautiful life on that magnificent island. I now reside on Hilton Head Island with my husband, two lovely daughters, for which Lolabea is named, dog, and three cats.
